We believe every child is a person willed by God, with their own gift and their own pace.

Our job isn’t to remake a child in the image of the system, or of adults. Our job is to accompany them toward who they can become.

How we work

We are teachers and educators who take seriously: the dignity of every child, honest communication, boundaries without humiliation, kindness without weakness, and responsibility without fear.

We teach children to think, not just to repeat.

We teach them to cooperate, not to compete at any cost.

And we teach them that making mistakes is part of life – that’s what forgiveness is for, not shame.

Our experience

Many of us have taught at other schools or worked with families and communities. We’ve learned that children need a space where they can feel safe and where their individuality is respected. We have experience with children who are sensitive, anxious, exceptionally gifted, autistic or otherwise neurodivergent, who need a calmer pace, or who need a bigger challenge. For each of them, we look for an approach – not a label.

What you can expect from us

We won’t try to convince you that we have all the answers. We won’t claim we’ll never make a mistake. We’re human – we learn together with the children and their parents.

But you can expect: honesty, respect, partnership, a genuine effort to act fairly, and a willingness to talk things through, even when it’s difficult.

Why we do this

We believe education should lead to wisdom, not fear. To responsibility, not performance for its own sake. To joy, not mere survival.

And we believe that when a child knows they are loved and respected, they become capable of things they would never show under pressure.

Words can’t tell you as much about a school as meeting us in person can. Parents entrust us with the most precious thing they have – and we take that seriously.

Tomáš Kováčik came to realize how rare and precious the good his children received at a Catholic kindergarten really was – specifically at the Church Kindergarten of St. Mary Mazzarello in Petržalka. Through it, his family met other families, and they still maintain wonderful friendships today. For years he longed for other children and families to be able to receive what his family received – for more Catholic kindergartens to exist, where children naturally receive faith and where beautiful friendships form. He sees Catholic kindergartens as a space for evangelization too – a place where the beauty and value of faith can be passed on naturally, not only to children but to entire families.

The school’s founder is a mother of three, who deeply cares about her own children’s education. To her, education isn’t just about acquiring knowledge – it’s also a sense of belonging, the passing on of values, and a friendly environment. As a lawyer and founder of another successful private art school in Trenčín, she decided to expand her portfolio with a family-style kindergarten, and so, together with Tomáš Kováčik, she founded St. Michael’s Kindergarten in 2021. St. Michael’s Elementary School followed in 2023. In its fifth year of operation, the school found its new, permanent home in Bratislava’s Ružinov district.

Teaching children in smaller learning groups is the future of education. Today, more than ever, we need to prepare children for life primarily through skills – teaching them to think critically, evaluate, analyze, and find their way through an endless tangle of information. Above all, we need to pass on to our children the values of humanity, mutual help, and a sense of responsibility. Children should learn to use their talents for the benefit of all humankind. In a family-style school environment with an individual approach, they absorb these foundations naturally.
